I decided to upgrade my server from Ubuntu 12.04 to 14.04 (switched the server) and suddenly I could not edit the variables column widths from the Studio Web Interface.
I read some blogs which said some possible problems on the compatibility of Sugar CRM and PHP5.5.
I did a test downloading and installing a new instance of the latest Sugar distribution on my new server (the one I currently have is 3 years old), to see if it was a compatibility between my old version and the new server, but the new version had the same problem.
So bypass the Studio console problem I was able to hard code the column width (In my case I was trying to adjunt the width of the Contact Subpanel inside the Accounts Module. This is the route.
/var/www/html/XXXXXXXX/modules/Contacts/metadata/subpanels
